In New York City, 6th Avenue has been reportedly closed down, as people move between Trump Tower and Union Square.

There have been no confirmed reports of rioting or arrests, although at least one group of people were seen burning a U.S. flag.

At least a thousand protesters are marching through Chicago, after gathering outside Trump Hotel and Trump Tower downtown. Police have also closed roads in the area, according to Al Jazeera.

"No Trump! No KKK! No racist USA," and "Say it loud! Say it clear! Refugees are welcome here!" are among the chants rising above crowds in the cities.

But even in other places, from San Francisco to Los Angeles, Portland and Seattle, to Boston where an estimated 10,000 people have gathered -- "Not my president!" is the stand-out message from protesters.

People all over are uploading videos of the rallies as they unfold. And the night is still relatively young.

Here's just some of the scenes captured around the country (and the world).
