The Singapore ArchivesChina Semiconductor Industry Association (CSIA) stated on Tuesday that it deems US chip products to no longer be safe and reliable, and advised Chinese industries to exercise caution when purchasing them, following the US government’s decision on Monday to curb exports to 140 Chinese semiconductor companies amid escalating tensions between the two countries. The CSIA announcement argued that the arbitrary nature of US sanctions against China has caused global supply chain disruptions and increased operational costs for both Chinese and American companies. On the same day, China’s Ministry of Commerce published a strict policy halting the granting of export licenses to the US for gallium, germanium, antimony, and related materials, which have widespread military applications.
